Why Choose Our Professional Tax Preparation Services?

At Community Tax, we understand that life is too short to worry about taxes. Many situations benefit from tax preparation services:

  • Not enough time: Balancing daily life can delay tax filing, leading to rushed errors and missed deductions, impacting your return. A tax preparer can save time and do the tedious tax filing work for you.
  • Mistakes on a past return: A simple mistake on your taxes can cause complex problems in the future. When you make a mistake, you are at greater risk of audits, tax penalties, accrued interest, and even legal trouble. A professional tax preparer can find errors you might have missed and correct them before they become serious.
  • Existing back taxes or tax liabilities: When notified of unsettled taxes, consult a professional. Large liabilities can be daunting, but a tax expert can guide you. Our team has helped many clients resolve tax issues swiftly and efficiently.
  • Change in marital status or dependents: Your marital status as of December 31 of the previous tax year affects your filing options. New family members needing care can be claimed as dependents for tax credits. Community Tax professionals can help select the right filing status and identify caregiver-related tax credits.
  • Change of residency: Your residency on December 31 affects your tax return. States have varying tax laws and requirements. A tax professional understands state and local tax laws and can assist in smoothly transitioning to new taxes when you move.
  • Buying or selling real estate: One of our tax professionals will sit down with you and discuss your options before you buy new property. If you own multiple properties, we can help manage the taxes on your investments and incorporate benefits like a capital gains exclusion.
  • Getting audited:A tax professional from Community Tax can quickly gather your financial information and present it to the IRS. Should issues arise as a result of the audit, your tax advocate will represent you before the IRS and negotiate a payment plan to ensure your finances are secure.

Tax season doesn’t have to be stressful. When you hire a professional tax preparer, you know you’re taken care of.

Tax Preparation Service FAQs

When you enlist our tax return preparers, you can benefit from comprehensive tax advice from our accountants, CPAs, and tax preparers. Every one of our tax preparers is licensed with a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN), and many of our income tax specialists have further certifications. At Community Tax, you can work with Certified Public Accountants (CPA) and/or Enrolled Agents to tackle any type of tax resolution needed.

  • Enrolled Agents. Our enrolled agents are licensed directly by the IRS. Every enrolled agent must pass a three-part Special Enrollment Examination to demonstrate their proficiency in federal tax planning, individual and business tax return preparation, and ability to represent taxpayers. Some of our enrolled agents have even worked for the IRS.
  • Certified Public Accountants. CPAs are licensed by state boards of accountancy. To obtain a CPA license, these professionals must complete a rigorous, uniform CPA exam. They generally study accounting or finance and must comply with ethical requirements to obtain their license. Our CPAs have extensive knowledge of tax preparation as well as other financial management matters to get you on the right track.
  • Tax Attorneys. The tax attorneys at Community Tax are licensed by state courts and state bar associations and have an in-depth knowledge of tax law to navigate the on-going changes of federal and state tax regulations. They can also provide other services, like negotiating alimony during a divorce, and representing clients before the IRS.

Community Tax is the tax preparation option that does more than just set you up for larger refunds when filing taxes—we’re here to help you overcome any tax challenge, big or small.

Income tax preparation should not be a burden on our clients. We will send you a simple series of questions that allow us to prepare your annual tax return efficiently and quickly. Your return will be sent back via mail, or email if requested, and then filed immediately upon receipt of your signature.

Our robust tax resolution department is passionate about accuracy, and we take extra steps that our competitors at big public accounting firms don’t.

  • We file a limited power of attorney on behalf of all of our clients, which allows our tax preparers to contact the IRS and/or state when necessary. This allows us the opportunity to order transcripts, provide representation during an audit, and access to account records from the IRS to ensure the utmost in attention to detail when filing your tax returns.
  • We assign a dedicated tax return preparer to all income tax returns. This skilled income tax professional will take over the preparation of your tax return, and leave no stone unturned to ensure all listed information is accurate.
  • We follow a rigorous review process. Once the tax preparer completes the return, it is submitted to Community Tax’s review team, composed of seasoned CPAs, each with more than 25 years of experience under their belt. The CPA reviewer will then analyze your income tax return with a fine-toothed comb to ensure the quality of the final product.

These extra measures ensure no source of income or expense is missed or left off of your income tax return.

Most types of income can be considered taxable by the Internal Revenue Service, but there are some exceptions that are easier to handle with a tax professional on your side. Our income tax preparers can help you with the following alternate income sources:

  • Social security income
  • Stock sales
  • Rental income
  • Sale or transfer of assets
  • Interest income
  • Farm income
  • Dividends
  • Unemployment income
  • Business expenses
  • Gambling or lottery income
  • Any other miscellaneous income

Every state has their own income tax requirements. Only eight states don’t impose income taxes on their residents: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming. Our tax professionals can keep you up to date on the latest laws imposed by the federal, state, and local governments to keep you in good standing with the IRS.

Since each person has a different financial situation, each individual’s tax deductions can vary. Community Tax provides you a personalized assessment to determine which tax deductions you may qualify for, including but not limited to:

  • Higher education expenses
  • Gambling losses
  • Charitable contributions
  • Mortgage interest
  • Real estate taxes
  • Student loan interest
  • IRA contributions
  • Medical expenses

If you have business income or rental income, our tax return preparers will find business deductions or common credits you can claim to make sure filing taxes turns into an actual refund.

Yes! Unlike some of the largest tax preparation companies, we believe in providing custom tax experiences based on each customer’s specific needs.

In addition to both individual and business tax returns, our tax department assists clients with other tax preparation needs such as audits, estimated tax payments, estate tax problems, inheritance taxes, missing tax returns, tax assurance, and much more. Community Tax handles IRS correspondence involving any audits or notices.

If you’re not sure which complicated tax forms you need, we’ve got your back. Check out our Tax Form Library to find the form you need based on a simple keyword search. You can enter “small business” and view the relevant forms for small business taxes, or if you know what you need, “Form 1040,” and the library will provide you with information about filling this form out.

Filing from overseas can be confusing, since on top of filling out their regular income taxes, US expats may not know about specific tax rules that apply to them. The Foreign Earned Income Exclusion allows expat taxpayers to exclude a significant portion of their foreign earned income from US taxes. Learn more about this form.
